War of Bets is a simple TV game based on a popular card game played by children called ‘Battle’ or ‘War’ where two people battle each other by placing one card on the table. Just like the original game, War of Bets only needs two cards per round. The dealer places one card on the side of the dealer and another on the player’s—whichever side has the card with a higher value wins. If the cards end up in a tie, the War bet wins and all other bets lose.

Game mechanics

War of Bets is a card game similar to baccarat but with simpler game rules. The player can place their bets on either the Player or the Dealer. You can also bet on a tie or the War bet. To win, the side you bet on should have a higher card value than the opposite side.

You can place your bets before the round begins and after the first card has been placed. To begin the round, the dealer places a card on the Player’s side. While the game is happening, the winning odds of all bets are displayed right beside them on the screen to guide you in deciding where to place your bets. 

Once the Dealer’s card is placed, the side which has the higher card is decided as the winner. In case of a tie, the War bet wins and all other bets lose. 

Gameplay

Once the bets are unlocked, the first betting round begins and you can place your wagers before any of the cards are dealt. You can place bets on main and side bets.

Afterwards, the dealer places a card on the player’s side. Half of the bets close and the odds of the remaining bets are updated. The second betting round begins where you can bet on the remaining bets.

Then, the dealer places a card on their side and the winner is determined.

Even with its simplicity, War of Bets entertains the player with plenty of bet options to choose from. You can place your money on the main bets and side bets.

The main bets are the following:

  • Dealer wins 
  • Player wins
  • War or tie.
     

When it comes to side bets, there are three different categories you can bet on: colour, suit and value. You can place your money on these bets anytime while the round is ongoing.

Colour

For this side bet, you can choose to bet on whether the player’s or the dealer’s card will turn out to be red or black.

Card Suit

On side bets based on the card suit, you can bet on whether the player’s card or the dealer’s card will be a club, diamond, heart or spade suit.

Value

Card value side bets have more options to choose from. There are 4 choices for the outcome of both the dealer’s and the player’s card:

  • Card value will be a PIP card (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
  • Card value will be a FACE card (J, Q, K)
  • Card value will be MORE than 8
  • Card value will be LESS than 8
  • Card value will be 8.

Card values

The deck used in War of Bets consists of a set with 52 cards of 13 cards from each of the four suits. Each card’s value is worth their face value where the deuce has the lowest value and the ace has the highest value.

Bets and Payouts

On the bottom right side of the screen, you’ll find the Bet Slip that shows your total bet amount and bet history. You’ll also see a possible winning amount here to help you gauge your bets. Winning bets receive a 1:1 payout. 

The bet amount is customizable according to your limits. You can increase your total bet by these denominations:

  • +3
  • +10
  • +20
  • +50
  • +100
  • +200.

How to win War of Bets

A famous War of Bets strategy is to bet only on either the Player or the Dealer. As much as possible, refrain from placing your money on the War bet. While it has higher odds of winning, continuously betting on the War gives the house advantage and is ultimately not productive.

You can choose to follow the odds displayed on the screen and win low-paying prizes, or place your money on bets with high odds and win higher prizes. Both choices differ in terms of risk. Playing it safe by betting on bets with low odds can get you plenty of low prizes while playing it risky by placing War bets can grant you huge payouts but also huge losses.
